[1]  It all began with philosophical musings over smoothies and front stoop hangs at Char's personal home in East Van. Sam Lucia and Geoff Millar of So Loki were just finishing their second album entitled "V" - an ode to East Van and the personal stories of artists trying to be artists in a city deemed to be too expensive to live in and "no fun."

Much like their sound, visual aesthetic, branding & marketing style, So Loki of Owake Records were only interested in creating a provocative live music experience - something to take people out of their everyday regular programming, something that would make them Feel.

What happened next was a 5 month process of weekly whiteboard sessions, listening parties, mood boarding, film research, and assembling together a squad of talented multi-disciplinary creatives to produce the Comfort In Chaos event.

In the spirit of All Hallows Eve, guests were given an 'all black everything' dress code and gold masks to wear during the event. It was a social experiment - an opportunity for people to perhaps feel freer with everyone's identity concealed.

[3] Guests entered the space one at a time, through fabric tendrils that led them into a moody environment with two performance set ups. The sound was designed by Eugene Chong of Skyharbour Studios, with additional sound textures playing in different parts of the space, curated by Millar. The team set up a binaural sound system - four speakers laid out in four corners of the room, with subwoofers in between. If the goal was "obnoxiously loud", it was definitely accomplished.

Lucas Hrubizna had a repertoire of black & white visuals that he live VJ'd during the entire performance.

The show was an eyegasm filled with high-quality visuals and left guests feeling like they stumbled upon something very special, very weird, and were inspired that an event like this could happen in Vancouver.

"Char is a true master of collaboration. Her Ingenuity pushed the experience of our Comfort in Chaos masquerade to a level we would never have imagined and allowed us to truly focus on our areas of expertise."
