[1] Public Disco is a series of public space pop-up parties in Vancouver that connect people through music and dancing in reimagined urban spaces. ShapeShifterStudio partnered with Nic Collinet of Public Disco to transform the new Chain & Forge public plaza that opened up on Granville Island in the spring of 2018.
Together, we curated a line up of local house & disco DJ’s, as well as dancers from the Vancouver Street Dance community. The performers danced in the styles of hustle, house, vogue and hula hooping, and did pop-up surprise performances during the day.
There were food trucks, local beer vendors curated by Vancouver Craft Beer Week, and new murals that went up underneath Granville St. Bridge, curated by Vancouver Mural Festival.
“Char brings an immense amount of both creative energy and heart to everything she does. Her collaborative efforts elevate every event we do together thanks to her thoughtful attention to detail and her rich local knowledge." - Nick Collinet of Public Disco
