[1] The 2nd annual ‘4 Elements of Hip Hop’ jam was thrown on the exact 45th Anniversary date of Hip Hop - August 11th. A man named Clive Campbell a.k.a. DJ Kool Herc, threw what was arguably the first hip hop party that ever existed. It took place in their block building in the Bronx, and had all the elements in full effect - Turntables and a sound system for Kool Herc's collection. The b-boys and b-girls throwing down on the breaks of the beat. MC's were jumping on the mic with freestyles and hooks, while Graffiti artists with spray cans, were bombing walls, tagging sketch books.

[2] This year’s celebration was packed to the brim with a great line up of programming - free workshops in all 4 elements of hip hop (breaking, MC’ing, DJ’ing, and graffiti art). We had a surprise format 2 vs 2 All Styles Dance Battle with up to $400 in Cash and Prizes that were won. Drummer Timmy Boom Bap & DJ Abel put on a special set called Drums & Decks, with guest MC’s and vocalists - Moka Only (Swollen Members) and Missy D. We also had The Stew Jamz (A regular monthly music cypher jam community) come through and bless the mic.

[3] A live beat showcase and fresh music for the All-Styles Dance battle was provided by Creeasian (Cree First Nations/Edmonton, AB) - our special out-of-town guest, who is also a dancer for ‘A Tribe Called Red’.
There were dance performances by two prominent crews from the Vancouver street dance community - Now Or Never breaking crew, and Diamonds In The Rough all female hip hop crew.
Last but not least, an all vinyl 45’s set on the 45th anniversary of hip hop was put together by turntablist, The Stunt Man, and his extensive 45’s record collection.
